Stitches

And there you have it, folks! I just received my first stitches, 7 to be exact.

My partner thoughtfully gifted me a new Cuisinart, a food processor, to help me with the Christmas dinner. He had given it to me early, setting it on the counter, and I was excited. This was going to help eliminate time on cutting and chopping food, right?

Well, he turned his back to do something, I went to lift the darned thing out of the box and wouldn't you know? The blade slipped and fell cutting me. I never quite saw the cut, I just know he grabbed it and wrapped it with the closest things he had, masking tape and paper towels. I didn't feel it so I thought he was being a wee bit over dramatic.

He rushed me to the hospital, not allowing me to change my clothes so that was interesting (ha ha), we were in shorts and I had no bra on. Remember now, I have birthed children, so that was less than exciting.

It was about 3 inches wide and 3 inches long with good depth. The doctor said it was a clean and beautiful cut. Have you ever noticed how medical professionals get excited by the weirdest of things?

I honesty had not felt the cut until she took the masking tape and paper towel off. It felt like they were digging inside the wound and now I felt every inch. I looked though, they were not even touching it. It felt like the worse pain and it was nothing but the air touching it. Crazy. That air hurt worse than anything. It was going pretty good, I was managing to be okay until they started to numb me. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put the shot inside the wound has never been wounded. Wow. It hurt like crazy.

Ended up with a tetanus shot and 7 stitches, which I was prepared for neither. I am 45 and just now getting my first stitches. Not a fun way to end my day. Thought it would be interesting to document it though, share with you here.
